"Kaelyn"

Female human (Aglarondan)

Appearance

Age: 18
Hair: Black/Brown
Eyes: Clouded blue
Built: Atheletic, Muscled
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 120 lbs.
Clothing: Kaelyn wears very simple, cheap clothing. She tends to favor neutral and more natural colors, though is especially partial to blue.
Sex: Female
Race: Human
Ethnicity: Aglarondan (From Altumbel)
Trade: Fisherman's daughter

Although she's rather small in height, Kaelyn is a solid woman with wide shoulders and hips. Her body is atheletic and well muscled, clearly a working build from long hours helping her family growing up. She has incredibly dark brown hair that appears black in some lights and her eyes are a cloudy blue.

Kaelyn is an honest and hardworking young woman and though the prejudice of Altumbel's inhabitants is not entirely worn away, she is finding herself slowly opening up to new ideas and strange ways that her family and peers would dismiss out of fear. In fact, she's found that elves, the race that the humans of Altumbel had grown to resent, have become a comfort away from home and in the company of even stranger individuals such as orcs and gnomes. Having grown up with particular talents as a child, Kaelyn never shared the hostility and fear of magic.

She is slow to make friends and trust others completely, but once her respect has been earned she will be quick to come to the aid of her companion's, a loyal and steadfast friend. When Kaelyn has a few gold pieces to spend, she's an avid drinker, enjoying the especially strong and bitter drinks from her country. Aglarondan blood wine would be a special favorite, though more expensive than she can usually afford. Like most inhabitants of Altumbel, Kaelyn has a deep love of the ocean, the shore and the rocky coast.

Kaelyn's Story

Kaelyn was born to a pair of lower-middle class fishermen on the coast of Aglarond known as Altumbel. She was the youngest of four, with three older brothers to help raise and protect her. Fishing was the family trade and everyone was expected to contribute. As an infant, however, Kaelyn was born very weak and with clouded eyes that were said to be visionless. In a family of hard workers struggling to make ends meet, these traits were seen as challenges that could not be overcome and it was determined at a young age that Kaelyn would be unable to keep up with the family business. Her family loved and adored her all the same, but treated her more delicately, never expecting her to achieve the same as her siblings. This only fueled Kaelyn's determination to push herself, struggling to prove her worth to both her family and friends.

As Kaelyn and her siblings grew, her father trained the boys in fishing and combat with exotic weapons such as the fauchard and glaive. The boys were expected to serve their country in the military as both their father and mother had when they were younger. Although Kaelyn was able to participate in some fishing lessons and learned as much as she could about their trade, her parents were adament about her staying out of the military, seeing it as too dangerous for someone of her condition. This did not stop her eldest brother from sparring with her, teaching her the basics and treating her with respect and honor, as the men and women of Altumbel were expected. They met away from their parents watchful stares in secret and he challenged and pushed his sister, despite her young age and clouded vision. He encouraged and supported her, giving her motivation when it felt like no one else cared what she achieved for herself. Her eldest brother was the first to join Aglaron's military, gifted with the family's heirloom fauchard for honor. Although Kaelyn was happy for her brother's achievement, she could not help but be discouraged and saddened by his absense.

He served for two years and in stead of his return, a member of his platoon returned with her brother's fauchard wrapped in the tattered remnants of his travelling cloak. He was reported to have been killed by Red Wizards of Thay and to have died a noble death, but his body was never found. The family was devastated, but Kaelyn's brother was honored and his life celebrated. In mourning, her second eldest brother held back one year to join the military later with her third brother. They would both join the military together, but in different branches than her eldest. They were both fearful, but brave and determined. The heirloom fauchard remained at home, above the mantle as a reminder of what was lost. When her parents were hard at work on their boat, or fishing and casting nets along the coast, Kaelyn would sneak the prized weapon and repeat forms that her brother had taught her.

Party Opinions

*Vrok:* It seems that only Vrok is unaware of his party leader status. Every member of the group looks to him for direction and considering how often he's been there to resolve our problems or pick us up once we've fallen, that's rather understandable. He's saved my own life more than once and I can only hope to repay him.
*Amaya:* I've doubted her more often than not, but Amaya has proven to be a rather useful member of our group. She's certainly not the best to communicate terms with anyone, but she's dedicated and tries despite how many times she's failed. I'm not sure i'd put my life in her hands, but despite that i've grown to like her.
Hunter: Although she was very secretive when we first met, Hunter has become one of my favorite of the Scions. She is a brilliant woman and is skilled in a variety of arts. As a result of our most recent quest, she has fallen into a coma and I find myself praying to Gods I never spoke to before. May her strength pull her through.
Shadow: Similarly to Hunter, Shadow was always rather secretive about things, though with a more worth while secret to keep. We have since discovered him to be a Drow, a dark skinned elf that typically lives below ground from the stories I have heard. I have never encountered them before, though elves are not foreign to me. It is strange to think that even others within their race do not trust them. While I can see the other Scions looking at him in a new light, all that honor he has earned thus far has not gone away. I still trust him.
Elefa: One of the newest recruitments. I'm still unsure about her. She seems to have some talent with healing, though her kisses and practical jokes are sometimes tedious. She appears to be a child, but has corrected this assumption more than once. I only hope she knows how serious our work actually is.
Kro: A man with admirable strength. He looks something close to Vrok, but a little different. He's rather quiet, but I think he knows what he's doing.
Tengu: I'm not sure how Ariel allows this drunk to take on missions in his typical state. I don't know him well, but i'm concerned for his safety during the play...
Granthor: I've been told that at one point Granthor was an elf, but at this time his head is a beastly monster that he, for some reason, finds endearing. He's a rather pompous man and seems to shy away from the frontlines of battle, but has proved useful at times.
Huk: I never really had the opportunity to get to know Huk, though from what I witnessed, he was a brave man and fought hard for his life and our safety. I only wish I knew better at the time what might have helped him. I hope he finds peace and comfort in the next life.
Isa: She was the first scion that I met and the one that recruited me into the first adventure so that I could make a little money for travelling. My family would be shamed to find that the elf was the most comforting individual I met in Thesk. She was friendly enough, but we parted ways before really getting to know one another.
