Huk's Story

The Warboar act at the Flying Dwarf Circus always involved calling forth a volunteer from the audience. On the ill-fated night, a paralictor was in attendance at the show, perhaps feeling a need to escape from his duties for one evening, and, likely in the same spirit, he took up the boar-tamer's request. That evening, there had been a mix-up with the boars. Filip, who had heretofore strictly been employed only in private shows for a certain rich patron with peculiar tastes, in a young handler's error had been placed in the night's line-up. He knew only the script for the show he was familiar with. The paralictor, it seems, was to Filip all quite the same as the rich patron -- but not so the converse!

After the unfortunate incident, the circus naturally had to disband, both of Huk's parents were imprisoned in Citadel Rivad , and most of the warboars were put down -- but Huk ran away and took with him a boarlet dear to him -- "Small Boar". Wandering in the forest, Huk glimpsed a unicorn and in that instant his mind was filled with the knowledge that his family's ruin had come because they had lost the support of Marthammor Duin , and that he must now turn to Lurue for guidance.
